Engineers Without Borders–USA
Engineers Without Borders (EWB-USA) is a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to partnering with developing communities around the world. EWB-USA provides engineering services through volunteer chapter members to implement the infrastructure necessary to meet basic human needs. Through sustainable engineering projects, Engineers Without Borders strives to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves. Thousands of members in more than 225 university and professional chapters work to support these efforts.
EWB-USA does every sort of engineering project you can imagine: we build bridges, provide clean water and sanitation, conduct environmental cleanups, waste management, IT, various forms of power, and more.
Our projects also include an educational component to empower the community to learn how to use the technology implemented in a long-term way. EWB learns even more from the communities it works with. We will tackle any engineering project for which we have the volunteers and resources to manage.
Our CHAPTER
The Chicagoland Professional Chapter was founded in 2005 to support interested volunteers in the Chicagoland area. Since its inception the chapter has grown to over 140 members who have helped empower 11 communities in seven different countries to meet their basic human needs.
The Chicagoland Professional Chapter values diversity of all types in its membership and volunteer force. Our member body consists of individuals from a very wide range of backgrounds. Members include new college graduates from both engineering and non-engineering programs of study, as well as professionals with backgrounds in engineering, health, law, business, and finance.
